The Grote Kerk and Culture
The Grote Kerk Monnickendam offers a stage for a wide range of cultural activities, including exhibitions, musical events and cultural gatherings, presentations and lectures. Activities in the Grote Kerk receive wide interest from the public, due partly to the spacious nature of the building.
The Grote Kerk in Monnickendam is characterised by the space and amount of light that streams in through its large windows and is therefore an ideal location for all types of exhibition, as it enables the works of art on show to really do themselves justice. There are frequent exhibitions in the church, from painting to sculpture and other art forms.
This imposing church is particularly suitable for choirs, pianists and organists. The Grote Kerk offers excellent facilities, also for regular rehearsals. We can also arrange for you to be accompanied on the grand piano or the organ.
The church has more than enough room for big and smaller audiences to attend lectures, presentations, seminars and other gatherings. In 2013, the nationwide launch of the new hymn book took place in the Grote Kerk. This was a large national event and a great success. The podium in the church is easily visible from all the seating areas and the recently installed sound system offers additional support if required. In consultation other multi-media arrangements can also be made.
